I just moved to DC after living on the west coast the last 12 years, and it’s been an interesting adjustment. While I have a lot of shit to say about Seattle, my last home, I will boldly and vehemently say: Seattle has perfect weather. Never hot + never humid = PERFECTION IN MY EYES. And now, I have entered survival mode, struggling to adjust to +95 degrees, damp body, mosquito bites and so on (this is the part where I mention I’m from FLORIDA - so the trauma runs deep). I’ve been forced into the most extreme functional fashion corner of my life, wearing orthopedic Hoka sneakers (bc my legs are my car), the least amount of clothing possible and dreaming of buying that mist umbrella that’s gone viral on TikTok. I won’t, don’t worry.
Regardless, when I have to leave the house, here’s how you’ll find me:
thrifted gym shorts rolled down 20 times - nothing can touch my stomach in this heat. And no, dresses don’t exist in my day to day.
cropped tanks - unfortunately, I haven’t found anything that beats Brandy Melville and Skims SUE ME. But open for suggestions…
The tiniest cross body or anything small enough to minimize the synthetic fabric trapping heat against my body. I also despise holding anything in my hands/shoulders, which vetoes totes. Sorry hipsters.
Sunblock. sunblock.

The darkest shades to shield the pain in your eyes
On a MISSION. I walk really fast to minimize my time outside. But I also take the longest walks (by choice) as my hobby/therapy. So step aside!!!!!
Anyways, it’s a work in progress. I’m happy to stick to this uniform while I focus on finding new routines, hobbies, maybe some friends even (?!). But turning fits in this weather? No, not now.
DC natives - what are you doing during these hot months? Can I come?
